License Key Activation Information

What is a License Key / Code?
A license code is an 18-digit number that you enter into the License Activation window in MarketDelta (Setup: Preferences: License Activation). The number remains in effect as long as you continue as a subscriber. The license code tells MarketDelta which product and features you have licensed at any point in time. 

How Do I Retrieve My License Key?
Your license key will have been emailed to you when you subscribed. Please keep it archived or write it down in case you ever need to refer back to it. Each key is unique and no one key is the same.
  

How Do I Activate My License Key?

MarketDelta 9.2 or higher is required to use the new licensing system. Open the License Activation window (under Setup: Preferences) and select Online Activation at the top of the window. Enter or paste the License Code from your license details page in your web browser into the space provided. Click the Activate License button. Agree to the License Agreement and go through the remaining steps clicking Next. Review the resulting license status in the window and click "Finish". The text should read: "Status: Activated (...) in good standing. In parentheses after the word Activated you will see codes indicating the product/features you have licensed. For example, an MarketDelta Market Profile user will see "Acivated (MP)" or "Activated (MP PRO)". If you see "Activated(FP)" this means MarketDelta standard edition, with no other special features other than the Footprint. If you experience any difficulty activating a license code, or if the product/feature codes are not what you expect, refer to the Trouble Shooting section at the bottom of this document. 

How Do I Change My License to Add or Remove Features?
Once the license is activated, you will need to contact sales [at] marketdelta.com to revise your license. Include your name and license key number in the email. This can be found in File | License Activation.  

What Do I Have to Do to Change My License to a Different Data Feed?
Nothing. Once activated on a computer, an intra-day license conveys the right to use the software with any of the intra-data data feeds/sources that MarketDelta supports. There is no need to notify MarketDelta if you decide to use a different data source. You may take advantage of free trials from other vendors if you wish to run the software with an alternate feed for evaluation purposes. To setup MarketDelta software for a different data source, use the File:Reconfigure command. The same license code is used regardless of which data feed source you utilize. You may run MarketDelta on Windows XP or Windows Vista using the same License Code.  

How Do I Move the License From One Computer to Another?
A license code may be activated on only one machine at a time. If you wish to run MarketDelta software on more than one computer at different times, go to the License Activation window and click De-Activate License to release the license from the machine. Then use the same License Code to activate on a different computer. You can move a license code from a Windows XP machine to a Windows Vista or vice versa. The license is platform independent. If you move your license frequently from one machine to another, consider adding an additional license to your account, or you can use a variety of techniques in the software to automate the activation and deactivation of your license when you frequently share a license between two different machines. When Would I Need an Additional License Key?
An additional license key is required if a user wishes to run MarketDelta software on more than one computer simultaneously. Because many of our clients work in groups and sit side by side we do not discount a second license.  You may purchase an additional license at www.marketdelta.com
 

  What if My License is Destroyed?
If your computer is lost or stolen or if you re-format or replace your hard drive, or if your computer become unusable due to hardware malfunction, the activated license code on such a machine will remain locked to that machine; it cannot be activated on a different machine. Email support@marketdelta.com with an explanation of the circumstances. The license code can be reset to permit a new activation on a replacement/repaired computer.  

What if I Cannot De-activate my License?
If your license code is activated on a machine that cannot access the Internet or is otherwise disabled due to hardware malfunction or is in for repairs, you will need to contact support and ask that they de-activate your license.  When internet service is restored or the activated computer is repaired, you can resume using your license by clicking File | License Activation | Activate.  

What If I Forgot to De-activate my License?
If you forget to de-activate your license code on your computer at the office, for example, and then leave town with your laptop, the same scenario would apply. As long as the license remains activated on the office computer your recourse would be to acquire an additional license code. If you have only one license code and plan to use it frequently on different machines in different locations, we recommend that you setup a keyboard shortcut, e.g. set F5 to “De-activate License”. You can press F5 any time and leave, knowing your license is deactivated. If you have the shortcut setup, you can use Setup: Schedules, on the office computer for example, to execute F5 (De-Activate) every day at 6 p.m. As long as you leave the program running and it has internet access, the license will be de-activated automatically each day at the designated time. Another technique would be to setup a Schedule with two steps (actions): (1) F5 -De-Activate License and (2) Quit. This schedule can be setup to run each day at a specific time, or you can run this schedule when you wish to quit so that de-activation is automated when quitting. Using these techniques will reduce the likelihood that you find your license accidentally left activated when you wish to activate on a different computer in another location. 

Can I Run Multiple Instances of MarketDelta with One License Key?
Yes. You may run as many instances of MarketDelta as you wish on the same machine with one license code activated. Running multiple instances is easiest under Windows XP. Install the software multiple times into differently name folders inside the Program Files folder. You may then run each one by starting marketdelta.exe from the folder where it was installed. Each instance uses the same license key. Instances may run with the same or a different data source. Multiple instances under Windows Vista is possible by running each instance in XP/SP2 compatibility mode as described above. The software runs just as it does under XP. Recent improvements have been made to enable MarketDelta to run as a Vista compatible application. We do not presently support running multiple Vista compatible instances although further work is planned to enable this. 

Is Internet Access Required to Activate the License?
Yes. Activation of a license requires that the computer be connected to the Internet. Once the license is activated, the software does not require daily access to the internet. However the software does check-in with marketdelta.com periodically, at the beginning of the month for example, to verify that the license is continuing in good standing. Updating a license as described above requires Internet access. Fulfillment of update requests is immediate. Daily check-in with marketdelta.com takes place thereafter until billing has been completed. When moving a license from one computer to another, both de-activation and activation require the machines to have access to the Internet. When connecting to your data service provider or initiating data downloading requests, Internet access is necessary by definition, thus MarketDelta periodically chooses these times to check-in with marketdelta.com using a background task that does not interfere in any way with the use of the software.

Do I Have to Do Anything Special at the Beginning of the Month?
No. As long as your subscription to MarketDelta software is ongoing, the license renews automatically at the beginning of each month. There is no email to receive, no registration code to enter. Billing occurs on the first day of each month. If there is a billing problem, the software will notify you automatically to contact MarketDelta. Access to the software continues. If you receive such a notice, log into your marketdelta.com account and check the credit card setup there. You can easily update a card’s expiration date or specify a different credit card for billing. Within 24 hours the License Activation window in MarketDelta should reflect “in good standing” once again. How Do I End My Subscription?  How Do I Cancel My Subscription?
Email sales@marketdelta.com and request to cancel your account. You MUST include your 18 digit license key in the body of the email. This can be found by clicking File | License Activation.  Also include the first and last name if applicable.  You may then remove the software from your computer, or, keep the software installed if you intend to re subscribe at a later date.  We require a 5 business day notice for cancellations to take effect the next billing cycle.

All licenses are prepaid for the month. You must email sales@marketdelta.com or call 1.312.922.7800 stating your intent to end the subscription at the end on the month and this will be noted.  

Can I End My Subscription for a Period of Time?
Yes. Follow the method outlined above to end the subscription. Your account information at marketdelta.com will be retained and your license will be marked inactive. There will be no further billing on your account until we hear from you again. When you are ready to resume using the software, email sales@marketdelta.com and request reactivation. 

License Key Troubleshooting
License activation problems can occur. The troubleshooting tips below are discussed in terms of the operating system platform in use, Windows XP or Windows Vista.  If these tips do not help you resolve the issue, please email support@marketdelta.com to report the activation problem. Include your user profile please. Use the Copy User Profile command in the Edit menu; then paste the profile text into your email message. The profile information will assist us in diagnosing the problem.

License Messages
If you see a message reporting that you have 15 days left in your evaluation period, ignore the message, and go back to the License Activation window, re-enter the 18-digit License key, if necessary, and press Activate License

If problems persist, quit MarketDelta and run the ControlActivation program. Here's how: click Start | Programs | MarketDelta | Control Activation. Follow the on-screen prompts to activate your license code.

After activating the license using the Control Activation program, start MarketDelta again. Verify that the license is activated properly by viewing the License Activation window. The status message there should read Activated followed by the product/feature codes for your license.
