Definitions are text files that can be imported and exported as a way of sharing charts, quote pages, etc.  They provide a simple way for you to share and receive settings, lists, charts, indicators, etc. that other traders may use.  MarketDelta support may often ask you to send a chart definition file so we can troubleshoot a problem with the way a chart may be setup.

To send (export) a definition file click File | Export | ... with "..." being the type of definition file you are exporting.  If exporting a chart choose Chart Definition.  It will prompt you to save the file.  Save to your desktop or other preferred location.  The file is saved as a simple text (.txt) file and can be opened with any text editor. You can also export all your charts at once, as a single file, by using the Object Editor in the Open menu, choose Chart and Select All, then Export.

To open (import) a definition file click File | Import  | ... with "..." being the type of definition file you are importing.  Navigate to where you saved or downloaded the definition file and click open.  It will open in MarketDelta.  Make sure you save the file so you can access it later in whatever manner you wish.

NOTE: A common way traders use this functionality within MarketDelta is by "sharing" charts.  When viewing a chart if you click File | Share Picture a series of windows will pop-up asking you to share the picture and if applicable, the Definition file.  If you choose to share the definition file then the definition file (.txt file) will be shared along with the picture and posted for public use and display atwww.charthub.com 

Another way to share pictures and definitions is to right click and choose Share Picture.  When you share a picture the URL of where the picture is shared on charthub is automatically copied to the Windows clipboard and can immediately be posted into a chat room, email, etc. for quick sharing.  Fellow traders can visit the link, click the 

 icon above the picture, save it, and then File | Import | Chart Definition.  The definition file will open in MarketDelta. See the knowledge base article on Sharing for more information.
