Is it possible to set alarms for custom indicators, or can they only be set for price breaches?
Cheers,
Adrian

Adrian,
There are several ways to do this. Probably the simplest is to add a Horizontal Reference line to your indicator pane. Click the newly added line, press Enter. On the preferences for the line, check the box marked "Action", then select the sound you wish to hear.
Another option is to create a custom signal, which can have an alert attached to it. For more info on custom signals, see this video:
That works great. Thanks. I guess I should have noticed it sooner.
Thanks,
Adrian

Hey Bob,
I just noticed I can add a horizontal bar above the current value of the indicator, but when I set an alarm for a line below the indicator, it signals immediately. Can I get the alarm to signal after the indicator has crossed below the low line?

What indicator are you trying this on? To the best of my knowledge, it should not trigger immediately.

Hi Trevor,
I am using something I wrote, it's very simple. It rang the first time I set the line below the indicator line. I have done it again now, and it did not ring. I will try it out again when the market is open and I'll see how it goes. Thanks for your help.

Trevor,
Confirmed that the alarm 'action' on a horizontal line is only triggered when price crosses above the indicator from below, not when crosses the indicator from above.
I can test it with a simple indicator like a MA, but my bet is it will be the same.
Might have to learn how to apply the 'signal' alarm.

Adrian,
I tried a couple alarms in both directions on a few of the standard indicators, and they all seem to work correctly. There is a small chance a bug exists, but it also but be a situation where the custom indicator calculation is causing an anomaly. In this case, you might be best submitting a support ticket to have your exact chart definition tested.
