Using MarketDelta on More than One Computer

Here are the important points regarding using MarketDelta on more than one computer:

  • MarketDelta can only run on one PC at a time with the same license. You can easily move the license between computers by de-activating it on one PC and activating it on another. You can do this with the File menu > License Activation. For the second computer, just download and install the program from our Downloads page on the main site. If you frequently de-activate and re-activate a license in this way, you may find that the License Activation utility in the Windows Start Menu > All Programs > MarketDelta folder is a quicker activation method.
  • If you wish to use MarketDelta on two computers at the same time in the same office, you will need to purchase a second license. We offer a second license at half price for users in this scenario. Note that this second license is only for use by the same owner of the original license. Contact us via email to sales@marketdelta.com if you wish to purchase this license.
  • Whether you use a second license or merely switch between computers with the same license, you may wish to have all the same charts moved to the new machine. Here are two articles that discuss how to do this:
    • http://support.marketdelta.com/entries/161157 -- this article shows how to move the entire MarketDelta database to another computer; this includes all charts, quote pages, price data, signals, and user preferences.
    • http://support.marketdelta.com/entries/114758 -- this article is about exporting and importing chart definitions, which are usually the most important component of the database for most users. This is easier as it allows you create a single text file that contains all your charts. You can email this to yourself as a backup, and also import it on another computer to have all your charts only.
  • You will need to install your data feed on the second computer before you can run MarketDelta, in the case of some data vendors such as DTN IQFeed.
